Red-Eared Slider Turtle Caught at Shannon Lake

This red-eared slider was spotted at Shannon Lake Regional Park, West Kelowna on May 26th, 2018 by Brendan Schlamp from the Peachland Sportsmen’s Association while volunteering at the Go Fish Program. He shared his pictures with me a week later on June 2nd. Later that afternoon I managed to locate and catch what appears to be the same turtle. It was a large adult female with a shell length of 26 cm and weighed 2.6 kg.

Thanks to Brendan for sharing his pictures!

Please send us your pictures if you have photographed a red-eared slider in the Okanagan and take notes of when and where you photographed it. Please remember to stay on the designated trails to help protect vegetation and wildlife habitat.
